It was announced today that SF Studios will distribute award-winning director Ruben Östlund’s new feature film Triangle of Sadness, a contemporary satire taking place in the world of fashion. The story is set on a luxury yacht and ends up on a deserted island where hierarchies are turned upside down. The film is directed and scripted by Ruben Östlund (The Square, Force Majeure) and produced by Erik Hemmendorff at Plattform Produktion.
SF Studios has acquired a majority share of the production company FLX, one of the most successful production companies in Sweden. In addition to recently released Netflix series “Quicksand”, FLX has produced TV Drama such as “Bonus Family” and box office hits like “The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” and “Solsidan”. FLX’s founder Felix Herngren and CEO Pontus Edgren will remain as significant shareholders and executives within the company.
The Swedish Film Institute and European Film Promotion (EFP) has appointed SF Studios’ producer Jon Nohrstedt to represent Sweden as Producer on the Move during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. He will be joined by 19 other of Europe’s most interesting and upcoming young producers to participate in various workshops and seminars during the festival and be given the opportunity to network and exchange experiences and ideas.
SF Studios, celebrating its 100th year anniversary in 2019, has acquired the rights to Max Tegmark’s New York Times best-selling book “Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The book will be developed into an English language TV-series. Fredrik Wikström Nicastro (Borg/McEnroe, Easy Money) will produce and Tegmark will serve as a creative consultant to provide his scientific expertise on the project.

Allison Williams (Get Out, Girls) and Alexander Dreymon (The Last Kingdom) are set to star in the upcoming survival-thriller Horizon Line for STXfilms, a division of STX Entertainment, and Nordic major SF Studios, who developed the project. SF Studios’ own Fredrik Wikström Nicastro (Borg/McEnroe, Easy Money) is producing, with award-winning director Mikael Marcimain (Call Girl, The Laser Man) set to direct. The original screenplay was written by Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken, who penned the $100m blockbuster 10 Cloverfield Lane.
